Zelenka and Ensemble Inégal
The process of recognizing Zelenka’s ingenious music arouses heart-warming enthusiasm. Always upon the issue of our newest Zelenka CD, colleagues from all over the world request its sheet music from us. These CD recordings are not a matter of lifeless music conservation, but of impulses bringing new topics to early music. All “our” Zelenka titles always find their way to the programs of the most various early-music ensembles within a year at most. For example, this year they were the Missa Sancti Josephi in the rendition of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, the Serenata Il Diamante on the Dresdner Musikfestspiele Festival, and the Missa Omnium Sanctorum in the interpretation of the Czech ensemble Collegium 1704. We consider it a matter of great honour and joy, that we may thus thank all those who support and follow us on this joint road of discovery.

Il serpente di bronzo ZWV 64
Ensemble Inégal earned its place in the history of rediscovering the works of Jan Dismas
Zelenka for the first time in the year 2005 with the recording of the oratorio Il Serpente di
Bronzo (The Bronze Snake) ZWV 61. As was mentioned before: “At that time, Ensemble
Inégal initiated and from that time also leads the new wave of reviving Zelenka’s ingenious
music”.
Missa Purificationis BVM ZWV 16, Litaniae Lauretanae "Consolatrix afflictorum" ZWV 151
Our second world-premiere recording, this time featuring Zelenka’s Missa Purificationis
ZWV 16, presented Zelenka as the author of magnificent and majestic music.
Simply shocking – Il Diamante ZWV 177
In the English Early Music Review, Brian Clark wrote: “Zelenka’s Il Diamante will probably
inflict a shock upon our readers. Whoever is familiar with his rather restrained Responsoria
and Lamentations, full of nearly ecstatic anxiety … will probably be very surprised by the
discovery of this work … All it brings about deserves our attention: I’m eagerly and intensely
looking forward to their next project.”
In the years 2010 and 2011 followed concerts and the recording of the following mass:
Missa Sancti Josephi ZWV 14, Litaniae Xaverianae ZWV 155
and finally also the contemporary Czech concert premiere and CD recording of:
Missa Omnium Sanctorum ZWV 21, Barbara dira effera ZWV 164
which is a stunning creation of compositional art and immense spiritual depth.
In the year 2012 awaits us:
Missa Sanctissimae Trinitatis ZWV 17, Gaude laetare ZWV 168
for the recording of our newest CD, for the opening concerts of the Concentus Moraviae
International Music Festival and of “Czech Musical Baroque – Discoveries & Surprises”
2012, as well as the St. Wenceslas Music Festival in Ostrava.
Missa Paschalis ZWV 7, Litaniae Omnium Sanctorum ZWV 153
This is already the third time Ensemble Inégal has received in 2014 the Diapason d´Or award for recordings of music by Zelenka.
In textbooks for the common public, the concept of baroque music is usually associated with
the names Bach, Händel and Vivaldi. Ensemble Inégal makes a systematical effort in order to
add Jan Dismas Zelenka to that list.
